Wild Dog Intervention

Text by Eugene Greyling – Carnivore Conservation Field Officer, Endangered Wildlife Trust:

Many of you became familiar with this African wild dog, affectionately known as Number 1 (#1; notice the “1” naturally present in her coat pattern), during the past couple of months visiting the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) Carnivore Holding Facility on the Uitval section of Welgevonden. #1 is a 3½ year old nomadic female from the local TOOG (Waterberg) pack – one of the only remaining free-roaming wild dog packs in South Africa.
