Discover a Luxury Limpopo Lodge to Meet Your Every Need

Limpopo LodgeThe northeastern corner of South Africa is a wildlife paradise, but game spotters needn’t rough it in a bush tent; they can live in luxury at a Limpopo Lodge. The area is full of natural beauty, ranging from natural bushveld, savannah, and mountain ranges to waterfalls, and hot springs. The wildlife is equally diverse, with more than 65 mammal species alone, including rarities like the caracal and aardvark.

You will find few places in Africa better than Limpopo when you’re planning a safari. However, while a game drive or walk is a thrilling experience, it can also be tiring. At the close of the day, a delicious meal, a relaxing shower, and a comfortable bed in an air-conditioned room at a Limpopo game lodge will definitely beat a sleeping bag on the ground or a camp bed, hands down.

There is one area of the province where you can enjoy the bests of both worlds; an unparalleled variety of flora and fauna and a choice of self-catering, mid-range and luxury lodges to ensure your stay will be comfortable and memorable.

A Limpopo Lodge for Everyone at Welgevonden

Nestled in the province’s Waterberg district is a 36 000 hectare private game reserve. The name, Welgevonden, is a Dutch word meaning “well found”, a sentiment shared by everyone who visits this unspoiled corner of the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Reserve.

Because the Welgevonden reserve is privately owned, our accommodation differs from the average Limpopo lodge in that we don’t accept day visitors. We also limit the number of guests at one time to ensure your privacy, comfort, and unrestricted access to the services and facilities at each of the reserve’s 26 lodges.

On arrival, you will be met by a qualified guide and transported to the lodge of your choice. Once you have settled, here are a few of the activities we offer:

  • Morning and Evening Game Drives: These are conducted by experienced guides who can also accompany guests on horseback safaris or hikes.

  • Stargazing: Enjoy a break from the day’s heat and explore the crystal-clear African night sky with our cutting-edge 8-inch telescope.

  • Visit Ancient Rock Art Sites: The area is famous for the rock paintings created two thousand years ago by the San Bushmen.

These are just some of the exciting experiences you can enjoy in this malaria-free area, just a two-and-a-half-hour drive or 45-minute flight from Johannesburg.
