Mating leopards

While on a late afternoon game drive one Friday afternoon Hamish Rodgers from Clearwater Kudu Lodge and his guests came upon two leopard close to Fig Tree Plains.

The male was very relaxed while the female was a little skittish.

However they were interested in other things and proceeded to mate on seven occasions during the following 30 minutes showing very little regard for our vehicle.

“This behaviour is so seldom witnessed and I have never before encountered it out in the open in my 12 years of guiding on Welgevonden. Remarkably we had the entire sighting to ourselves for over 30 minutes as no other vehicles were close by said Hamish”.
